  • What's the difference between an awning and a blind?

    Blinds are normally located inside the window of a property, whereas an awning is located outside. 


    Although it's possible to fit vertical (or near-vertical) awnings, the majority of awnings are fitted with the option to extend horizontally, providing a shady 'roof' over a patio or other outdoor area.

  • Do I need to inform the council if I install an awning?

    The short answer is, sometimes. Although it's unlikely that a small, domestic awning will require approval, if you're installing a large-scale commercial awning or one that covers public land, for example, an awning that covers an area of pavement outside a cafe or restaurant, then you may need to apply for building approvals.

  • Are awnings weatherproof?

    The lack of spaces between fibres in awning material makes it difficult for rain to penetrate, but not impossible - any type of woven material will eventually let rain through if the deluge is sufficiently heavy and prolonged. That said, most awnings will keep out a light shower.

  • Do awnings keep the heat out?

    No. The temperature beneath an awning will be exactly the same as the temperature outside it. The difference is that the space beneath an awning is sheltered from the sun's rays (UV light). People under an awning aren't exposed to the sun's radiation. This not only virtually eliminates the risk of sunburn but also takes away the added heat of the sun's radiation.

  • Do you provide awnings for commercial use?

    Yes. Our awnings are suitable for both domestic and commercial use.
