An aluminium alloy frame is arguably the best choice for an awning. Aluminium is a lightweight metal that's also extremely strong, particularly when mixed with other metals to form an alloy. It's also capable of bending slightly without fracturing (a reasonably malleable metal).
This property enables the frame to flex in moderate winds, without breaking. Aluminium doesn't rust and isn't affected by UV light. Although it lacks the strength of steel or iron, aluminium is more than strong enough to support most awnings successfully.
In nearly fifteen years of providing premium awnings to Brisbane customers, we've discovered that aluminium framing is one of the best options for the majority of awning styles.
At
Advantage Brisbane, we provide awnings that are designed locally, for use in Brisbane and the surrounding area. We understand the challenges of the Queensland climate, which is why every awning we create is made to protect users from the sun, as well as provide an attractive, durable addition to residential or commercial properties.
We provide awnings for all budgets and properties - options vary from manually operated, canvas awnings to advanced, hi-tech options that operate automatically, using sensor technology.
As well as providing awnings for Brisbane customers, we also offer a full installation service. From initial measurements and discussion of the type of awning that's going to be best for your needs to fitting the awning and ensuring it's working perfectly, we do the lot! We're also on hand if you need any after-sales advice on maintaining or operating your awning successfully.
Blinds are normally located inside the window of a property, whereas an awning is located outside.
Although it's possible to fit vertical (or near-vertical) awnings, the majority of awnings are fitted with the option to extend horizontally, providing a shady 'roof' over a patio or other outdoor area.
The short answer is, sometimes. Although it's unlikely that a small, domestic awning will require approval, if you're installing a large-scale commercial awning or one that covers public land, for example, an awning that covers an area of pavement outside a cafe or restaurant, then you may need to apply for building approvals.
As part of our end-to-end service, we will let you know if approval is needed and be involved in submitting the relevant paperwork. All of our work is carried out under the standards set by QBCC. Get in touch if you're unsure about your upcoming project.
The lack of spaces between fibres in awning material makes it difficult for rain to penetrate, but not impossible - any type of woven material will eventually let rain through if the deluge is sufficiently heavy and prolonged. That said, most awnings will keep out a light shower.
No. The temperature beneath an awning will be exactly the same as the temperature outside it. The difference is that the space beneath an awning is sheltered from the sun's rays (UV light). People under an awning aren't exposed to the sun's radiation. This not only virtually eliminates the risk of sunburn but also takes away the added heat of the sun's radiation.
Yes. Our awnings are suitable for both domestic and commercial use. We can provide larger awnings to cover bigger areas of outdoor space or fit multiple awnings to cover a number of windows on a commercial frontage. If you have a commercial awning project coming up, we provide a one-stop solution that's efficient, cost-effective and professional.
